McLean Bowman – a native of San Antonio and a graduate of TMI and Baylor University, Mr. Bowman has been involved in the oil and gas industry and ranching all of his life. His interest in wildlife and his numerous trips to Africa influenced him to become one of the founders of the Texas Wildlife Association. He has been a well known collector of western art and artifacts for many years.
Hon. Dolph Briscoe, Jr. – the legendary Texas native resides on his ranch outside his hometown of Uvalde, Texas and is the former Governor of the State. A graduate of the University of Texas and Army veteran, his tireless interest in Texas and its people and politics will cause him to go down in history as one of the great ones. The Dolph and Janey Briscoe Museum is so named because of his gracious donation to help fund the development of our new Western Art Museum. Staying true to his roots, the Governor is well known for his philanthropic generosity in the fields of agriculture, education and the preservation of our history through art and artifacts.
J.P. Bryan - a resident of Houston, he is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Torch Energy Advisors Incorporated. Among his numerous business awards are Texas Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Canadian Oil Producer of the Year. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Law Degree from the University of Texas. He serves on the board of many charitable and civic organizations and is a renowned collector of western art and artifacts.
Fully Clingman – a resident of San Antonio, Mr. Clingman spent 28 years in the food retail business with local giant H.E.B serving as its C.O.O. and President for the last 19 of those years. He retired from H.E.B. in 2003 but continues to serve on the boards of various civic and charitable organizations such as the University of the Incarnate Word, Carmax, Carver Academy, San Antonio Livestock Exposition Executive Board, United Way, and is a founding member of the “For the Love of Kids & Harleys” charity. Mr. Clingman is the recipient of many awards for his tireless dedication to fundraising and involvement in national and local charities.
John W. Feik - a resident of San Antonio, he is the founder and President of DFB Pharmaceuticals as well as a long term philanthropist funding the Feik School of Pharmacy at The University of the Incarnate Word, and life long supporter of the arts and sciences both financially and through active Board participation.
Jeannie Frieden – a native of San Antonio, and graduate of the University of Texas, Mrs. Frieden has served as Director of Marketing at Catering by Rosemary, CEO of Executive Services, Vice-president of Cancer Therapy & Research Center’s Marketing, Fundraising, Education and Media Relations Department. She has served on many prominent civic and social organizational boards and is a member of the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame.
Laura Gill – a resident of San Antonio, Laura Gill is very active in the ranching business as co-managing partner of the Circle Ranch in Hudspeth County, Texas. She is a director in three major real estate development companies in South Texas and a director of Donner Properties, a family oil and gas entity operating in East Texas and Louisiana. Mrs. Gill still finds time to participate as a board member of several civic and charitable foundations and is a former director of Planned Parenthood of San Antonio.
Jack Guenther – a native of San Antonio, and the NWAF Chairman of the Board, he is involved and serves on the board of many civic and professional organizations. Mr. Guenther is well known as an important collector of western art and artifacts. Along with his philanthropic generosity, he is also the Chairman and majority share holder in six major automobile dealerships throughout the United States as well as Chairman of U.S. Enercorp, Ltd., an oil and gas company, a member of the State Bar of Texas and San Antonio and American Bar Associations.
Enrique Guerra – born in McAllen, Texas, Mr. Guerra resides on his San Vincente Ranch in Hidalgo County, Texas. He has been in the cattle ranching and farming industry all of his life. He lived in Mexico for 38 years and is an expert on its history and culture. Mr. Guerra is recognized as one of the premier collectors and exhibitors of Mexican and Texas art and artifacts. He is a charter member of the Cattlemen’s Texas Longhorn Registry, past president of the Texas Gun Collector’s Association (3 terms) and has served on the advisory boards of many universities and has been a contributor and exhibitor to many of Texas’ finest historical museums.
Jose “Che” Guerra – grew up on his family’s cattle ranch in Linn, Texas. The Guerra family has been farming and ranching on the Texas-Mexico border for thirteen generations. He and his wife Becky own Nuevo Santander Gallery in McAllen, Texas and he is very active in his community and serves on the board of several civic and historical organizations. His knowledge of the history of Mexico and Texas and its art and artifacts is widely recognized and respected by collectors and historians.
Janell Kleberg – a resident of Kingsville, Texas, she is a widely recognized and honored historian, author of “Waiting for Daylight” and dedicated conservationist supporting wildlife research in the Great Tamaulipan Desert, a region stretching from South Texas into Northern Mexico. She is highly respected for her knowledge of Texas’ colorful and diverse history, and the ranching industry.
Ted Lusher – a resident of Austin, Texas, he is the CEO/Chairman of Sell-Thru Services, Inc., President of Candy Mountain Ranches, Llano, Texas, President of Badu House Restaurant and Event Complex, Llano, Texas CEO of STS Enterprises, Inc and a Board member of the Texas State Historical Foundation. Mr. Lusher is involved in many civic, educational, historical and medical support activities in Austin and Texas. He is well known for his impressive collection of western art and artifacts.
Jane Macon – a resident of San Antonio, she is an Attorney at Law and Partnership Section Chief with Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P. She also has served as City Attorney for the City of San Antonio, the first woman city attorney for a major U.S. city. She has been honored throughout her career with many awards from professional business organizations for her achievements in the field of law and politics. Mrs. Macon is also well known for her tireless support of city development and a past president of the Business and Professional Woman’s Club.
Hon. John T. Montford – a resident of San Antonio, he has had eight careers beginning as a Marine officer, practicing attorney, small business owner, elected District Attorney, member of the Texas Senate for fourteen years, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, President Pro Tem of the 73rd Legislative Session, tenured professor, Chancellor of the Texas Tech University system and currently the President-Western Region for AT&T. Mr. Montford has been the recipient of many prestigious awards from Texas colleges and universities for his dedication and efforts in fundraising for these institutions.
Tom Morgan – a resident of San Antonio, he is a former Telecommunications Executive. Before moving to San Antonio as President of Consumer Markets for SBC, he was President and CEO of Southern New England Telecommunications. He retired in 2000. He has led and served on many Non-Profit Boards on a national and local basis throughout several states. He is sculptor and a collector of art. In the past he
has served as Treasurer and as President for the NWAF.
Dr. Ricardo Romo – a native of San Antonio and graduate of Fox Tech High School and the University of Texas., Dr. Romo is President of the University of Texas at San Antonio. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Texas, his master’s degree from Loyola Marymount University and a Ph.D. from UCLA. He is a nationally respected historian, photographer and the author of “East Los Angeles:History of a Barrio”, now in its ninth printing. Dr. Romo has received countless honors during his career and serves on nearly 20 boards and has been recognized as among the 100 “most influential Hispanics” in the U.S.
Stanley Rosenberg – a resident of San Antonio, Mr. Rosenberg is a founder and senior partner in the law firm of Tuggey, Rosenthal, Pauerstein, Sandoloski, Agather, LLP and has been practicing law for over 50 years. A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Mr. Rosenberg represents many high profile individuals and has been an advisor to various companies in the field of public offerings and sales of multi-million dollar businesses. He has held many leadership roles in various legal and philanthropic capacities and is involved in the purchase and development of real estate throughout the San Antonio area.
Lionel Sosa – a resident of San Antonio, he is an independent marketing consultant, and nationally recognized portrait artist. He is the founder of Bromley Communications, the largest Hispanic advertising agency in the U. S. and was named “One of the 25 most influential Hispanics in America” and is a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame. He has been a media consultant for Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. He currently serves on the board of many community, state and national organizations.
Mark E. Watson, Jr. – a native of San Antonio and a graduate of Central Catholic High School and the University of Notre Dame, he now serves as the NWAF Board President. He is involved and has served on the board of many charitable and civic organizations and is former Chairman of the Board of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center. He was appointed by President Bush to be a Commissioner of the Texas Parks and Wildlife. He is the retired President of Titan Insurance Company and is the owner of the Diamond K Ranch, a hunting and entertainment facility.
Tracy Wolff – a resident of San Antonio and wife of Judge Nelson Wolff, she is the Founder and President of the Hidalgo Foundation of Bexar County and Co-Founder of SMART START, an organization dedicated to improve the quality of childcare programs throughout the community. She has chaired numerous fundraisers, received many honors and continues to serve on some of San Antonio’s most prestigious boards and has been recognized and honored for her dedication to promoting early childhood education awareness. |
